Improving the Efficiency of Your Training Materials
Altura Learning offers a variety of learning resources that are available to download, depending on the course and subject matter. The number and type of learning resources available for each course will differ, but the intent is the same – to promote retention and application of the learning content.
Here is a brief overview of the types of learning resources that may be available with your training module:
- Essential Assessment – This is a PDF version of the assessment questions in the online training module. It comes with an Essential Answer Sheet for the coordinator to use for marking. This resource may be useful when facilitating group training sessions.
- Extension Assessment – This assessment prompts the learner to reflect on the learning in the online training module and consider further application to their current role and area of practice. This assessment requires short answers, which must be marked by the coordinator. It is particularly useful for Registered Nurses completing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours.
- Evidence Assessment – This is a competency or skills-based assessment. The type of evidence required will vary, based on the subject matter, but the assessment is always designed to assess how well the learner can apply the content from the online training module in a practical context.
- Quick Reference Guide – This contains key information from the course. It can be used for a toolbox talk, placed in a folder for further reading, or displayed on the staff noticeboard.
- Course Information Sheet – This sheet provides information about the course aim, learning outcomes and additional resources.
- Certificate – In addition to the certificate generated on Bridge, this editable certificate can be downloaded and completed by the coordinator. The hours of active learning can be recorded on the certificate for learners who are required to maintain a record of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours.
- Infographic – This is a visual representation of a key concept from the course, intended to simplify a more complex concept. Similar to the Quick Reference Guide, it can be used for a toolbox talk, placed in a folder for further reading, or displayed on the staff noticeboard.
- Coordinators Resource – Some courses will also include an additional resource with training games and case scenarios that can be used by coordinators when facilitating group training sessions or toolbox talks.
- Drug Calculation Test – Our medication management courses also offer a drug calculation test, for staff who are administering medications.
How can the Learning Resources be used by your organisation?
Organisations can use our Learning Resources to develop your own face-to-face and group training sessions, such as toolbox talks. These sessions can then be tailored specifically to the current training needs of your staff. The resources can also be useful for assessing competency and demonstrating compliance.
Most of our Learning Resources can be accessed by the individual learner to support their own self-directed learning and professional development. This provides the learner with flexibility to explore topics of interest independently and develop their knowledge and understanding.
