Course Description
Effective medication management is a vital part of supporting the safety, wellbeing, and independence of people receiving care in the community. This course provides home care staff with a clear understanding of the importance of medication reviews in reducing risks, preventing medication-related harm, and improving health outcomes.
Learners will explore what a medication review involves, recognise when a review may be necessary, and understand the benefits it provides for both clients and care teams. The course also clarifies the roles and responsibilities of support workers, Registered Nurses (RNs), and Enrolled Nurses (ENs) in medication management within the home care environment, ensuring safe and person-centred practice aligned with regulatory and organisational requirements.

Course Aim:
To equip home care staff with the knowledge and confidence to understand the purpose and benefits of medication reviews, recognise when they are needed, and support safe medication management practices in collaboration with the wider healthcare team.
