Course Description
Psychological trauma can influence how people feel, think and behave, sometimes long after a traumatic event has passed. To provide care that is safe, respectful and supportive, it is important to understand how trauma may have shaped an older person’s experiences and needs.
This course explores what psychological trauma is, how it can affect older people and why a trauma-informed approach to care matters. Learn how psychological trauma can influence behaviour and experiences in care, and the basics of how staff can respond in ways that help older people feel safe and respected.
